What is the PADI Advanced Open Water Course in Bali?

PADI Advanced Open Water Course: What You’ll Learn – Skills & Adventure Dives in Bali waters

The PADI Advanced Open Water Course is designed to refine your diving skills through a combination of knowledge development through PADI eLearning at home and practical training.

The course includes five adventure dives, two of which are mandatory:

  • Deep Diving (up to 30m/100ft) – Learn to manage deeper dives safely.
  • Underwater Navigation – Improve your ability to navigate underwater using a compass and natural references.

Plus, three additional specialty dives of your choice, such as:

    • Wreck Diving – Explore the incredible shipwrecks, including the USS Liberty.
    • Peak Performance Buoyancy – Master neutral buoyancy and conserve air efficiently.
    • Drift Diving – Experience Bali’s exhilarating currents while improving your control and buoyancy.
    • Fish Identification or Underwater Naturalist – Understand the marine ecosystem better.
    • Night Diving – Discover Bali’s nocturnal marine life in a whole new light. (extra fee)

The dives in the PADI Advanced Open Water course are very different from those in your Open Water course. The Adventure Dives are similar to a regular dive, except you focus on a particular diving specialty.

PADI Advanced Open Water Course Prerequisites & Requirements

To enroll in the PADI Advanced Open Water Course in Bali, you must:

  • Have a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or an equivalent certification from another agency).

  • Be at least 12 years old (Junior Advanced Open Water available for 12-14 years old).

  • Be in good physical health for diving.

PADI Advanced Open Water Course Schedule & Duration

The PADI Advanced Open Water Course in Bali typically takes 2 days to complete. The schedule is flexible and can be tailored to fit your travel plans. Each training session includes a short theory review, skill practice, and open-water dives.

  • Day 1: Tulamben 2 dives
  • Day 2: Padang Bai 3 dives
  • Second day in Nusa Penida option possible (manta point included)

Usually Pick up 7-7.30 am return 5 pm for Tulamben and 3 to 4 pm for Padang Bai or Nusa Penida.

The Open Water certification allows you to dive to 18 meters (60 feet), while the Advanced Open Water certification extends your depth limit to 30 meters (100 feet) and includes specialty training like deep diving, navigation.

Yes! There is no waiting period between PADI Open Water and PADI Advanced Open Water certification. You can take the Advanced course right after completing your Open Water dives.

The five adventure dives must be completed during the course, but the schedule can be flexible over two days.

If you haven’t been diving for over six months, we recommend a Scuba Refresher (ReActivate) session before starting the Advanced Open Water course in Bali.

Yes, after successfully completing your five adventure dives, you’ll receive your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, which is recognized worldwide.

Yes! Apart from the Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation, you can pick three additional adventure dives, such as Wreck Diving, Drift Diving, Night Diving, or Peak Performance Buoyancy. Some adventure dives are subject to extra fee like night dive, nitrox… contact us if you have special request.

While it’s not mandatory, we highly recommend getting diving insurance to cover any unexpected situations. We recommend Diver Alert Network (DAN), we can register our students for short term plan.

Booking is easy! Just contact us via email or our online form, and we’ll provide availability and a personalized quotation. A 50% deposit is required to secure your spot and to receive your PADI eLearning online access. The balance can be paid upon arrival by cash, credit/debit card.

For safety reasons, we may adjust dive sites based on weather and ocean conditions. If conditions are unsafe, we will reschedule or offer an alternative dive site.

Yes! The Advanced Open Water certification is the prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver Course, which takes your skills to the next level by focusing on safety and emergency management.

The minimum age to enroll in the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course is 12 years old. Divers aged 12–15 will receive a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification, which can later be upgraded to a standard certification upon reaching 15 yo.

You just need to bring a swimsuit & sunscreen, a change of clothes and a reusable water bottle if you have one with you. All diving equipment, towel, snacks, water, lunch and refreshments are provided. Don’t forget to complete your eLearning module before arriving to make the most of your training.
