We begin the adventure with a scenic morning transfer from Sanur to the northeast coast of Bali. Upon arrival in Tulamben, we gear up for two iconic wreck dives:

  • Dive 1 – USAT Liberty Wreck: Start your diving safari with Bali’s most famous dive site. Covered in soft corals and teeming with marine life, this sunken WWII cargo ship is perfect for underwater photography and exploration.
  • Dive 2 – Kubu Wreck & Coral Garden: A lesser-known but captivating wreck dive, followed by a vibrant coral slope teeming with reef fish and macro life.

After lunch and check-in at yourTulamben hotel, enjoy time to relax before your evening dive.

Dive 3 – USAT Liberty Wreck (Night Dive): Discover the Liberty in a completely different light. Night diving reveals sleeping parrotfish, hunting lionfish, and a surreal ambiance among the wreckage.

Dinner will be at a local restaurant in Tulamben.

Non-Diver Program:

While divers explore Bali’s underwater wrecks, you’ll head inland for a cultural and scenic day in the heart of Bali. Your local guide will take you to Besakih Temple, known as Bali’s Mother Temple, majestically perched on the slopes of Mount Agung. Continue to Kintamani for lunch with panoramic views of the Batur volcano and lake. In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful drive back through lush rice fields and traditional villages before returning to the hotel for a relaxing evening.

Today is dedicated to Bali’s world-renowned Tulamben macro diving and diverse underwater topography:

Dive 1 – Seraya Secret: A muck diving favorite, where sharp-eyed guides help you spot ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, and other hidden gems.

Dive 2 – Sidem Macro Point: Another rich site with volcanic sand, perfect for photographers and critter enthusiasts.

Lunch is served back at the hotel with time to relax by the pool.

Dive 3 – Tulamben Drop-Off: A sloping wall filled with soft corals and schools of reef fish, ideal for wide-angle views and relaxed exploration.

Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or enjoying a massage before dinner in a local warung in Tulamben.

Non-Diver Program:
Today, you’ll explore the serene Sidemen Valley, one of Bali’s most picturesque rice terrace regions. Begin with a short, guided hike through the emerald-green fields, taking in the tranquil scenery. Enjoy a traditional mountain lunch with a panoramic view over the valley. In the early afternoon, dive into Balinese culture by learning to craft canang sari, the daily offerings made by locals. Your guide will explain the symbolic meanings behind each element. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon for a well-deserved rest.

We spend the day diving around Amed, a laid-back fishing village with access to diverse and colorful underwater sites. All dives are done from a jukung, the traditional Balinese outrigger boat.

Dive 1 – Bunutan Drift:
A scenic drift dive with vibrant coral slopes and frequent sightings of turtles, jackfish, and reef sharks.

Dive 2 – Amed Wall:
A beautiful drop-off teeming with soft corals, sponges, and reef life. A great site for spotting macro and wide-angle subjects.

Lunch at a local beachfront warung in Amed Bay.

Dive 3 – The Pyramids:
A well-known artificial reef made of submerged structures that attract a wide range of marine life, perfect for relaxed exploration.

Dinner will be enjoyed on the beach in Amed, with a perfect view of the sun setting behind Mount Agung.

After dinner, return to your hotel in Tulamben.

Afterward, continue to the Taman Ujung water palace near the sea, a peaceful site blending royal history and beautiful architecture. Enjoy lunch in a local seaside restaurant before returning to Amed via the stunning coastal road. End the day with a sunset dinner on the beach alongside the group.

Dive 1 – Gili Tepekong:
Known for dramatic topography and vibrant marine life, Tepekong offers caves, walls, and the chance to spot pelagics like giant trevally or reef sharks. Conditions can be challenging, currents and surge possible but your guide will assess and adjust the plan accordingly.

Dive 2 – Gili Mimpang:
Just a short ride away, Mimpang features sloping reefs with healthy corals, schooling fish, and macro life. A great contrast to the dramatic formations of Tepekong.

Lunch: Back at Bali Aqua Dive Center in Nusa Penida

A gentle drift along the coral-covered slopes of Nusa Penida’s north coast. Expect clear waters, vibrant coral gardens, and the occasional turtle or eagle ray cruising by.

Evening: Dinner near the hotel and time to relax

Non-Diver Program:
Today is a full day of discovery on Nusa Penida. Begin with a visit to Goa Giri Putri, a sacred temple hidden inside a vast limestone cave, a unique spiritual and cultural experience. Continue to the island’s east coast to explore two of its most iconic sites: Atuh Beach and Diamond Beach, offering dramatic coastal views and striking cliffs. After lunch at a local spot, take in the panoramic views from the Raja Lima (Five Kings) jungle viewpoint. On the return journey, pass through the picturesque Teletubbies Hills, a fun and surreal landscape perfect for photos.

Today’s dives bring you face-to-face with two of Nusa Penida’s most iconic marine encounters, majestic manta rays and, in season, the elusive mola mola.

Dive 1 – Manta Point:
This southern site offers regular encounters with graceful reef mantas, gliding above the cleaning stations set against a rocky reef backdrop. It’s an unforgettable experience — suitable for all levels with proper conditions.

Dive 2 – Crystal Bay:
Famous for its crystal-clear visibility and rich marine life, Crystal Bay is a beautiful reef dive. During the right season, there’s a chance to spot the mola mola (sunfish) in deeper waters. Otherwise, enjoy a relaxed dive with vibrant coral, sweetlips, and angelfish.

Lunch: Back at the Dive Center in Nusa Penida
Take a break and recharge before the final dive of the day.

Dive 3: North Coast Drift
Drift along vibrant coral slopes and reef terraces with the current. Schools of fusiliers, turtles, and a wide variety of tropical fish accompany your drift over lush underwater landscapes.

Evening: Final Dinner in Nusa Penida
Enjoy a relaxing last evening on the island with a group dinner at a local restaurant near your hotel.

Non-Diver Program:
Today offers an unforgettable mix of sea and scenery. Join the divers by boat for a snorkeling session at Manta Point, a rare opportunity to swim alongside graceful manta rays in their natural habitat. After returning to shore and a relaxing lunch, head out on a guided tour of western Nusa Penida. Highlights include the dramatic archway at Broken Beach, the emerald tide pools of Angel’s Billabong, and the breathtaking cliffside vista at Kelingking Beach, one of Bali’s most iconic viewpoints. A perfect balance of marine and land-based exploration.

Today, we leave Nusa Penida and travel back to Bali’s mainland. This is a special day of inland discovery, blending sacred temples, rice terraces, and authentic local experiences before ending the journey in Sanur.

Frequently Asked Questions – 9-Day Bali Dive Safari

The 9-day safari includes 15 guided dives across Bali’s top underwater sites – wrecks, macro sites, coral gardens, drift dives, and manta ray encounters. Dives are distributed across three regions: Tulamben, Amed, and Nusa Penida. A full dive schedule is available in the program PDF.

We maintain a maximum of 4 divers per guide throughout the safari to ensure personal attention, safety, and the best possible underwater experience. Group departures typically have around 10 participants in total. Private safaris can be arranged for groups of 6 to 30 or more divers and non-divers.

Full dive equipment is included in your safari price. If you prefer to use your own gear, that is perfectly fine. We recommend bringing your own dive computer and underwater torch. Camera rental is available on request – contact us in advance to arrange.

This is a scheduled group safari so the route and dive sites are planned in advance. Our guides regularly adapt daily site choices based on conditions and diver profiles. Travelling with a group or club? Private safari dates with a fully customised itinerary can be arranged – contact us for details.

The 9-day safari covers East Bali’s most productive dive regions. It starts in Tulamben with the USAT Liberty Wreck, Kubu Wreck, a night dive, macro sites at Seraya Secret, and the Tulamben Drop-Off. Day 4 moves to Amed for three jukung boat dives – Bunutan drift, Amed Wall, and the Pyramid eco-reef. The safari concludes at Nusa Penida with Gili Tepekong, Gili Mimpang, Manta Point, Crystal Bay, and a north shore drift dive.

The 9-day safari is the most compact option, covering East Bali and Nusa Penida across 8 nights and 15 dives. It departs Thursdays every two weeks. The 11-day safari adds Padang Bai at the start for 20 dives over 10 nights, departing Tuesdays. The 13-day safari is the full island circuit – adding the entire northwest region including Pemuteran, Menjangan Island, and Secret Bay Gilimanuk for 21 dives over 12 nights, departing Sundays. If you have limited time but want a complete East Bali diving experience, the 9-day is the ideal choice.

Most dive sites on this safari are accessible to Open Water certified divers with recent experience. Sites at Gili Tepekong and certain Nusa Penida locations involve stronger currents and are better suited to Advanced Open Water level. These sites are scheduled in the second half of the safari, after several days of diving in calmer Tulamben and Amed conditions. Our guides assess every diver individually and adapt the dive plan accordingly. An Advanced Open Water course can also be incorporated into the program at a special rate.

The 9-day safari runs year-round with fixed group departures every two weeks. Manta rays are present at Nusa Penida throughout the year. Mola Mola sightings at Crystal Bay are most likely between July and October. Macro life at Tulamben and Amed is productive in all seasons. Sea conditions and visibility vary by region and cannot be predicted by month alone – our team monitors conditions daily and adapts the dive plan accordingly. Contact us for upcoming departure dates and current availability.
